Toys in the display case

Back to the showcase

Children's bicycles and wind-up toys made of tin appeared in the German city of Nuremberg; an entire industry was born. The invention of lithography made it possible to print these toys in colour, an innovation of the first order for the time. Fortunately, many of the original winding keys and packaging have been preserved; these apparent trifles largely determine the value of these now rare specimens.
